About

Synopsis

The Blues Brothers (1980) is John Landis's music-crime comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Jake and Elwood Blues, played by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, are on a mission from God.

Jake walks out of prison straight into Elwood's beat-up ex-cop Dodge. The Catholic orphanage where the brothers grew up owes five thousand dollars in back taxes, and the nuns are about to lose the building. The fix: round up their old rhythm-and-blues band and play one big show for the cash. Trouble is, half of Illinois wants them stopped first. State troopers, a vengeful country band and a squad of local neo-Nazis all join a chase that tears Chicago apart.

The movie grew out of a Saturday Night Live sketch, and the soundtrack carries real weight: James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and Cab Calloway perform on screen. Watch for Carrie Fisher and John Candy in the wreckage. Decades on, the film still draws fans for its quotable lines and its wild, record-setting pile-up of crashed police cars.
