About

Synopsis

Fire in the Sky (1993) is a sci-fi thriller from director Robert Lieberman that you can watch online on iFILM. It dramatizes the much-disputed account of logger Travis Walton, who swore a UFO carried him off.

A remote Arizona forest, an autumn night back in 1975. A work crew speeds back to town shaken, insisting Travis vanished in front of them inside a blinding shaft of light. There's no body, no motive, nothing to prove an abduction, so the town concludes the men killed him and dreamed up the rest. The film runs on two tracks: a grinding investigation in which a hard-nosed detective tries to crack the crew, and Travis's own ordeal, which the story holds back until late. D.B. Sweeney, Robert Patrick, Craig Sheffer and Peter Berg star, with James Garner as the lawman.

The scene aboard the craft, all cold and clinical with no ray guns or little green men, has earned its reputation as one of the most unsettling alien sequences ever filmed. This one's for viewers who want their UFO lore wrapped in a slow, earthbound drama about trust and suspicion. Stream Fire in the Sky (1993) online on iFILM.
