Five lifelong friends are drowning in debt and decide one job will fix everything: snatch Alfred Heineken, head of the beer empire and one of the richest men in the Netherlands. They grab him and his driver straight from the car and stash them in a soundproofed cell. The price for their release is thirty-five million guilders, a ransom bigger than anything Europe had seen. Hopkins plays the captive who stays sharper than his captors even behind bars, quietly turning them against one another.

Jim Sturgess and Sam Worthington play the ringleaders, whose friendship buckles under the weight of money and fear. Alfredson tells it dry, with none of the glamour usually wrapped around a heist, and the closer the payoff gets, the clearer it is that easy money doesn't exist.
