Synopsis

Roy (Shannon) and his friend Lucas (Edgerton) grab Roy's eight-year-old son Alton and drive through the night. The boy emits beams of light from his eyes, tunes into encrypted military frequencies, and knows things no child should know. A religious cult wants him back. An NSA analyst (Driver) is closing in. And Alton's mother Sarah (Dunst) is trying to figure out what her son actually is. Nichols keeps the camera close and the score minimal — the tension comes from what isn't explained.
