Synopsis
Flesh + Blood (1985) is a medieval adventure drama you can watch online on iFILM. The year is 1501, plague is gutting the towns, war never stops, and a band of mercenaries led by Martin take whatever they can reach.
A nobleman, Arnolfini, hires them to seize a city and promises a share of the spoils, then cheats them and casts the soldiers out empty-handed. Their revenge is blunt and brutal: they snatch Agnes, the young betrothed of Arnolfini's son, and barricade themselves with her inside a castle emptied by the pestilence. What follows is a siege with no clean side. Agnes quickly grasps that cunning is her only way out and starts playing both camps against each other. Rutger Hauer as Martin and Jennifer Jason Leigh as Agnes anchor this filthy, sweat-soaked world.
It was Paul Verhoeven's first English-language film, and his trademark blend of blood, sex and black irony is already running full tilt. No chivalric gloss here, just mud, disease and betrayal at every turn. It suits viewers who want their period filmmaking harsh and unromanticized, with nobody wearing white. Stream Flesh + Blood (1985) online on iFILM.
