Synopsis
The Three Caballeros (1944) is a Disney musical animated feature you can watch online on iFILM. For his birthday, Donald Duck unwraps a box of gifts, and each one launches him into a fresh trip across Latin America.
A film projector, a pop-up book and a piñata open up Mexico, Brazil and Argentina to the duck. Along the way he teams up with an old friend, the Brazilian parrot José Carioca, and a hot-tempered rooster named Panchito with a pistol on each hip. Together the three make up the title trio, racing through samba numbers, scenery and songs that tumble one into the next without pause.
The picture was assembled during the war years under the Good Neighbor policy, when Disney was busy building ties across Latin America. It was also one of the early experiments in mixing animation with live action in the same shot, with Donald flirting opposite real dancers, Aurora Miranda among them.
