Vivo

Vivo (2021) is an animated musical you can watch online on iFILM. A honey-colored kinkajou named Vivo plays the town square in Havana, trading songs with his owner, an aging street musician named Andrés. That little stage is his whole world. Then a letter arrives.

The note comes from Marta, the singer Andrés loved decades ago and never told. She is performing one last show in Miami and wants him there. When the chance slips away, the job of carrying his unsung love song falls to Vivo. Trouble is, he cannot talk to people. So a creature the size of a cat sets off across Florida, dodging pythons through the Everglades and stuck with Gabi, a loud, fearless kid who will not leave him alone.

Directed by Kirk DeMicco, the film is built around the music of Lin-Manuel Miranda, who voices Vivo and wrote its salsa-and-rap score. Zoe Saldaña and Gloria Estefan round out the cast. A small, warm story about keeping a promise. Stream Vivo (2021) online on iFILM.
