Synopsis
Little Tragedies (1980) is a Soviet television drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Mikhail Shveitser adapted four of Alexander Pushkin's short verse plays — The Miserly Knight, Mozart and Salieri, The Stone Guest, and A Feast in Time of Plague — into a single cinematic evening.
Each episode centres on one man in the grip of a single destructive force: greed, envy, lust, or the defiance of death. The ensemble brings together Innokenty Smoktunovsky, Sergei Yursky, Valery Zolotukhin, Georgy Taratorkin and Nikolai Burlyaev. Vladimir Vysotsky appears as Don Juan — one of his last screen performances before his death later that year.
