Vinland Saga (2019) is a Japanese anime series you can watch online on iFILM. WIT Studio brought Makoto Yukimura's manga to the screen: a war drama set in 11th-century northern Europe, where Viking raids, political power plays and a boy's obsession with revenge drive every episode.

Thorfinn grew up on the battlefield. His father Thors — once the fiercest warrior alive, who gave up the sword for a quiet life in Iceland — was killed by the mercenary Askeladd. Since that day Thorfinn has shadowed his father's murderer across England and Denmark, fighting under Askeladd's banner while waiting for a chance at a duel. Danish King Sweyn and his son Canute are tearing apart kingdoms around them, but Thorfinn sees none of it. His world has collapsed to a single face.

Produced by Twin Engine alongside WIT Studio, the series builds its sharpest tension around the philosophy Thors left behind: a true warrior has no enemies. That idea sits like a splinter in a story about a child who has become nothing but hate. The animation is meticulous, the battles visceral, and the historical detail — raids on London, the thing at Thingvellir, the conquest of England — is handled with unusual care for the genre.
