Synopsis

The title means partition. August 1947: a line drawn through a map, and everything on both sides of it changed overnight. Santoshi follows several families — Hindu, Muslim, Sikh — through the weeks when two new nations were being born and the violence that came with the border consumed ordinary lives. The film doesn't treat the Partition as backdrop; it puts the people caught in it at the center and refuses to let the scale of the tragedy become abstract.
