Synopsis
Pretty Village, Pretty Flame (Lepa sela, lepo gore, 1996) is a Serbian war drama by Srđan Dragojević that you can watch online on iFILM. Bosnia, the early days of the war that tore Yugoslavia apart. A handful of Serbian soldiers find themselves pinned down inside an abandoned tunnel the local kids once swore was cursed.
Outside, a Muslim unit has them surrounded. Inside, two men who grew up as best friends now sit on opposite ends of the same rifle line. Dragojević keeps cutting between a sunlit childhood and the siege, and those cuts land harder than any firefight — neighbors aiming across the very hill where they once chased a ball. Dragan Bjelogrlić and Nikola Kojo play it raw, without flattering anyone.
Brutal, furious, and at moments grotesquely funny, the film traces how hatred takes root between ordinary people. It became one of the defining Balkan pictures of the 1990s precisely because it refuses to tell you which side was right. Stream Pretty Village, Pretty Flame (1996) online on iFILM.
