Synopsis
The Green Elephant (Zelyony slonik, 1999) is a notorious Russian cult shocker you can watch online on iFILM. Almost the entire film unfolds inside a single military guardhouse cell.
Two junior officers are locked up together. One stays quiet and squeamish; the other unravels fast, while a guard lurks just outside. Director Svetlana Baskova shoots it raw, on cheap video, and lets army small-talk curdle into pure absurdity and filth. Vladimir Epifantsev and Sergei Pakhomov throw themselves at the roles with zero restraint — which is exactly why it carries four genre tags at once: drama, black comedy, horror and thriller.
Made for almost no money, it grew into a Russian-internet legend, endlessly quoted and chopped into memes. Fair warning: it's grimy, transgressive and not built for casual viewing.
