Synopsis
The Woman (2011) is a horror-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Lucky McKee takes an ordinary suburban household and lets the rot show through, slowly.
While hunting, attorney Chris stumbles on a feral woman in the forest — the last survivor of a brutal clan. He traps her, drags her home and chains her in the cellar, telling his wife and kids he means to "civilize" her. They keep quiet. As his project drags on, it becomes clear the real predator was never out in the wild. Pollyanna McIntosh as the captive and Sean Bridgers as the smiling head of the family carry whole scenes with barely a line of dialogue.
The film grew out of McKee's collaboration with novelist Jack Ketchum, and its Sundance premiere turned into a shouting match, with audience members walking out. Tough, deliberately uncomfortable cinema for viewers who want to be provoked. Stream The Woman (2011) online on iFILM.
