Synopsis
The Obscure Spring (Las oscuras primaveras, 2014) is a Mexican drama you can watch online on iFILM. Igor fixes pipes for a living. Pina pours coffee. It's winter, they want each other badly, and neither of them is free to act on it.
He has a wife. She's raising a small son alone after a marriage ended. So the longing leaks out sideways — she sews her boy a lion costume, he buys his wife a photocopier, small domestic gestures standing in for the thing neither will say out loud. Then spring arrives, and with it a choice that can't be put off any longer.
Directed by Ernesto Contreras, this is quiet, sensual cinema about grown-up desire: long silences, warm light, bodies over melodrama. Irene Azuela and José María Yazpik carry it.
