About

Synopsis

Erin Brockovich (2000) is a biographical drama directed by Steven Soderbergh — watch it online on iFILM. Julia Roberts plays a twice-divorced mother of three who walks into a law firm with no degree and no experience, lands a job as a file clerk, and ends up driving one of the biggest legal fights in California history.

Working under attorney Ed Masry (Albert Finney), Erin stumbles onto a cluster of medical records from the town of Hinkley — cancer cases, rare blood disorders, sick children. She traces the pattern to hexavalent chromium seeping from a nearby Pacific Gas & Electric facility into the drinking water. With no formal training and a social style that rubs most colleagues the wrong way, she knocks on hundreds of doors, earns the trust of affected families, and builds a plaintiff list nobody expected.

The lawsuit settled for $333 million — a record for a direct-action case in the United States at the time. Julia Roberts took home the Academy Award for Best Actress at the 2001 ceremony. The real Erin Brockovich has a brief cameo as a diner waitress. Stream Erin Brockovich (2000) in full on iFILM.
