Synopsis
Entre Nous (Coup de foudre, 1983) is a French drama by Diane Kurys — watch it online on iFILM. The story starts in occupied France in 1942: Lena, a Jewish refugee, marries a soldier to escape deportation; Madeleine, an art student, loses her first husband to the chaos of the Resistance and remarries soon after. The war ends; the marriages stay.
Lyon, 1952. Lena and Madeleine meet at a school event, and something clicks between them that neither husband can explain or contain. Isabelle Huppert plays Lena with quiet containment; Miou-Miou's Madeleine is restless, artistic, searching. Their friendship becomes the most alive relationship in both women's lives — and it slowly pulls those lives apart.
Kurys drew the story from her own mother's experience. The film made the Academy's shortlist as France's entry for Best Foreign Language Film that year. Two measured performances and one deceptively quiet story — the kind that reads louder the longer you sit with it. Stream Entre Nous (1983) online on iFILM.
