Months turn into years, the enemy never comes, and Drogo's whole life quietly drains away on the ramparts.

This was Zurlini's final film, a slow, hypnotic parable about duty and the time we waste waiting for something that may never arrive. Ennio Morricone's austere score and the bleached stone walls hold it at a deliberate crawl — patient, cerebral cinema for viewers who want stillness rather than spectacle.
