Synopsis
We Are Pregnant (Embarazados, 2016) is a Spanish comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. On paper it's basic math: one egg plus one sperm makes an embryo. In practice his sperm is "few, vague and abnormal," she's thirty-seven, and the doctors are already using the word premenopausal.
That's how an ordinary couple lands in the long slog of trying to conceive: tests, ovulation charts, clinics, hormones and a steady stream of unwanted advice from relatives. Their wish to become parents gets stress-tested by money, fatigue and each other's nerves, and mostly survives on a sense of humor. Director Juana Macías keeps one foot in the funny and one in the painful, while Alexandra Jiménez and Paco León play the pair with no gloss, all real exhaustion and tenderness.
