Synopsis
Hell (L'Enfer, 2005) is a French-Belgian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Danis Tanović — who took home the Oscar for No Man's Land in 2002 — adapted an unfinished screenplay by Krzysztof Kieślowski, the Polish master behind Three Colours and The Decalogue. L'Enfer was meant to be the second chapter of a planned trilogy that Kieślowski never lived to complete.
Three sisters in present-day Paris: Sophie (Emmanuelle Béart), Céline (Karin Viard), Anne (Marie Gillain). They've drifted apart over the years, each managing a tangled personal life and a different kind of silence. Something from their childhood — a violent episode they've never fully spoken about — connects them all.
Tanović keeps it spare and interior. No melodrama, no operatic reveals. Jacques Perrin, Guillaume Canet, Carole Bouquet, and Jean Rochefort fill out a cast that earns every quiet scene. For viewers who find Kieślowski's territory rewarding. Stream Hell (L'Enfer, 2005) on iFILM.
