Synopsis
The Villainess (2017) is a South Korean action film by Jung Byung-gil that you can watch online on iFILM. It opens with an eight-minute first-person massacre shot from inside the fight, fists swinging straight at the lens.
Raised from childhood to do one thing — kill — Sook-hee (Kim Ok-bin) is recruited by Korean intelligence with a deal: ten years of service in exchange for freedom. A new name, a surgically new face, a quiet cover job as a stage actress, a shot at an ordinary life. Then the past comes collecting. Old debts surface, the calm falls apart, and she picks the blade back up, this time for her own reckoning.
Director Jung Byung-gil builds the set pieces around dizzying point-of-view camerawork; a motorcycle chase with sword fights waged from the saddle became the film's calling card. Blood, speed, and pure female fury in the Kill Bill vein, only nastier and grimier. If you like your Asian action brutal, this one delivers. Stream The Villainess (2017) online on iFILM.
