Synopsis
The Bourne Identity (2002) is a spy action thriller directed by Doug Liman — watch it online on iFILM. Matt Damon plays a man pulled half-dead from the Mediterranean Sea, two bullets in his back and zero memory of who he is or why someone wants him dead.
The only clue is a Swiss bank account number implanted in his hip. The vault holds cash, six passports, and the first hint that he was no ordinary civilian. With CIA operatives closing in — Chris Cooper and Brian Cox as the cold Washington handlers who greenlit the hunt — he hitches a ride across Europe with a young German woman named Marie (Franka Potente). She thought it was just a job. It turns out to be something much more dangerous.
Based on Robert Ludlum's 1980 novel, the film stripped the source material down to pure kinetic momentum: the Paris car chase through narrow streets in a beat-up Mini became one of the decade's most-copied action sequences. Shot across Prague, Paris, and Zurich on a $60 million budget, it earned over $214 million and launched a franchise that ran for three more films.
