About

Synopsis

We Don't Live Here Anymore (2004) is a quietly brutal marriage drama you can watch online on iFILM. Two couples are best friends — Jack and Terry, Hank and Edith — until Jack starts sleeping with his best friend's wife.

The secret does not stay buried. Once Terry and Hank find out, they fall into an affair of their own, and both marriages begin coming apart at the seams. Mark Ruffalo and Laura Dern play one couple, scraping at each other through silence and small cruelties; Naomi Watts and Peter Krause are the other, pulled into the same wreck. There is no glamour here — just dishes, resentment and kids in the next room.

Director John Curran adapted two Andre Dubus stories into a film with no villains, only adults hurting each other out of habit. It is a hard, grown-up watch for anyone who prefers Scenes from a Marriage to a tidy romance. Stream We Don't Live Here Anymore online on iFILM.
