Synopsis
Howard the Duck (1986) is the Marvel-based sci-fi comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Howard is a wisecracking, cigar-chomping duck who walks on two legs, and a laser experiment run by Earth scientists yanks him off his home planet and dumps him into nighttime Cleveland.
A rock singer named Beverly (Lea Thompson) takes him in, and the two strike up an odd friendship — she's charmed by a talking drake, he's got nowhere else to land. Trouble is, the same beam dragged something far worse to Earth: a Dark Overlord that hijacks a scientist's body (Jeffrey Jones) and wants to tear open a portal for an army of its kind. Saving the world falls to a duck, a lab assistant (Tim Robbins), and a punk rocker.
George Lucas produced it, and it bombed so spectacularly it became Hollywood shorthand for disaster. Yet that same ridiculousness is exactly why people keep coming back: the first feature built on a Marvel character is a rubber duck, rock and roll, and alien demons all at once.
