In the Fire

In the Fire (2023) is a gothic horror-Western you can watch online on iFILM. It's the 1890s, and New York physician Grace Burnham travels to a remote plantation to treat a troubled boy whose strange behavior has the whole village terrified.

The local priest is certain the child is possessed and blames him for the sickness creeping through the land. Grace sees a patient, not a demon. Her treatment turns into a standoff between medicine and faith, and the longer she stays, the harder it gets to explain what surrounds the boy. Amber Heard carries the film as the doctor; Eduardo Noriega plays the plantation owner caught between them. Director Conor Allyn keeps it small and slow-burning, leaning on dread rather than gore.
