Synopsis
Living (2022) is a British drama led by Bill Nighy that you can watch online on iFILM. London, 1953. Mr. Williams has spent decades shuffling files at a city council office, widowed and shut off from everyone, when a diagnosis tells him he has only months left.
The routine he hid inside collapses. At first he tries to spend his remaining days on pleasure, then settles on something plainer and truer: to push one real thing through to the end — a children's playground his own department has buried in paperwork for years. Nighy works mostly in silence, in pauses and small looks, and earned an Academy Award nomination for it. A young clerk played by Aimee Lou Wood pulls him back toward life almost without meaning to.
Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro wrote the screenplay, moving Akira Kurosawa's classic Ikiru from postwar Japan to buttoned-up England. Director Oliver Hermanus shoots it in the soft grain of old film stock, restrained and free of easy tears. Quiet, grown-up cinema about how it's never too late to start.
