Synopsis
My Son (2021) is a crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, and it opens on a parent's worst news. Edmond comes back from a work trip to learn that his seven-year-old boy has vanished from a summer camp, leaving police with leads that go nowhere.
He drives out to the Scottish town where his ex-wife now lives and starts digging himself. The investigation has plenty of theories and little else; when one detective ties the boy's disappearance to Edmond's job, he's pulled off the case. James McAvoy anchors the film raw — by design, he was handed no dialogue script and improvised his way through, discovering events as his character does. Claire Foy plays the mother, hollowed out by the same not-knowing.
Director Christian Carion remade his own French feature here, reshaping it into a tense, single-minded hunt by a desperate man. The real hook isn't the plot twist but the strange charge of watching an actor learn the truth at the same moment you do. A short, nervy pick for fans of stripped-down thrillers.
