Synopsis
The Angels' Share (2012) is a Ken Loach comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. A young man from Glasgow tries to leave crime behind for his newborn son and stumbles onto a way out he never saw coming: a glass of whisky.
Robbie dodges prison and lands community service instead. Their easygoing supervisor Harry, who quietly worships single malts, brings the group along to a tasting almost as a lark. That's when Robbie discovers a freakishly good palate, able to tell a priceless cask from a fake by nose alone. Together with his mates Rhino, Albert and Mo, he hatches a cheeky scheme around a barrel of rare whisky heading to auction for a fortune. The angels' share, distillers call it, is the portion that simply evaporates from the cask over years of ageing.
Loach builds a social drama without lecturing: unemployment, dead-end estates, and a long shot these lads grab on their own terms. Its warm, sharp-edged humour earned the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Perfect if you love British films about small people with big nerve. Stream The Angels' Share (2012) online on iFILM.
