Synopsis
The Challenge (2023) is a Russian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Thoracic surgeon Evgenia gets one month to train for a flight to the ISS and operate on an ailing cosmonaut.
One month to absorb what usually takes others years — the centrifuge, the pressure chamber, weightlessness, fear. Then a surgery no one has ever attempted in orbit, on a man four hundred kilometres above the planet. Yulia Peresild plays Evgenia, with Miloš Biković and Vladimir Mashkov around her.
The real hook sits outside the plot: director Klim Shipenko and actress Peresild actually flew to the International Space Station, shooting part of the film in real orbit instead of on a soundstage.
