Synopsis

The Water Horse (2007) is a family fantasy by Jay Russell you can watch online on iFILM. On the misty shore of a Scottish loch, a lonely boy named Angus finds a strange egg. What climbs out belongs to the oldest local legends.

Angus hides the creature first in a bathtub, then a shed, then nowhere at all. It grows fast. One day it fits in his hands, the next it wrecks the kitchen and aches for open water. Around him are an anxious wartime mother (Emily Watson), a quiet handyman (Ben Chaplin), and army officers billeted in the estate. The bigger the secret gets, the harder it is to keep.

Adapted from a Dick King-Smith novel, by the author of Babe, with creature effects from Weta Workshop, the film offers a gentle origin story for the Loch Ness Monster. It stays warm without turning saccharine, which makes it an easy pick for a night in with younger kids. Stream The Water Horse (2007) online on iFILM.
