Hours

Hours (2013) is a survival drama-thriller you can watch online on iFILM. New Orleans, August 2005. Nolan's wife dies in childbirth, and within hours Hurricane Katrina swallows the city. He is left alone in an evacuated hospital with a premature daughter trapped in an incubator that runs on power the building no longer has.

The backup battery holds a charge for exactly three minutes. After that, he has to crank the generator by hand. Nolan (Paul Walker) cannot leave the crib longer than those minutes while floodwater rises, looters drift through the halls, and rescue never comes. For most of its runtime the film is one actor, one room, and a clock counting down a baby's life. Walker carries nearly every frame, in one of his final roles.

This was the directing debut of Eric Heisserer, who later wrote Arrival. It is a small, sincere film about fatherhood and stubbornness, where the real enemy is not the storm but the clock. Stream Hours (2013) online on iFILM.
