Synopsis
The Quake (Skjelvet, 2018) is a Norwegian disaster thriller you can watch online on iFILM. A geologist senses a catastrophic earthquake bearing down on Oslo, yet almost no one with the power to evacuate the city will listen.
Kristian Eikjord (Kristoffer Joner) once saved hundreds of lives during the tsunami at the Geiranger fjord. These days he lives alone, hollowed out by guilt, estranged from his wife Idun (Ane Dahl Torp) and their kids. The death of a fellow scientist drags him back to the data, and the numbers spell out a nightmare: a tremor is building beneath the capital that could level its towers. When the ground finally splits open, Kristian is trapped in a collapsing high-rise with his family still inside.
A sequel to the hit The Wave, Jon Andreas Andersen's film leans on Scandinavian restraint, trading Hollywood bombast for quiet dread and an almost documentary feel to the wreckage. The closing collapse is staged to pin you to your seat. A solid pick for anyone tired of the American formula. Stream The Quake (2018) online on iFILM.
