Synopsis

Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) is a dark action-comedy you can watch online on iFILM, with John Cusack as a contract killer named Martin Blank. He heads back to his Michigan hometown for his ten-year high school reunion, partly out of nerves and partly because a job happens to be waiting for him there.

A decade earlier, Martin ditched his prom date Debi and vanished without a word. She now hosts the local radio station and is still furious. Trying to apologize and win her back, he keeps it together while dodging a rival hitman, played by Dan Aykroyd, who wants him to join an assassins' union. His real-life sister Joan Cusack plays his deadpan assistant, and Alan Arkin is the therapist who would very much like Martin to find a new patient list.

Director George Armitage folds a wistful old-flame romance into shootouts and bone-dry, mean-spirited jokes. The soundtrack, stacked with '80s new wave, practically functions as a character. It is a cult favorite for anyone who likes their genres slamming into each other. Stream Grosse Pointe Blank online on iFILM.
