Tarantino shot on 35mm with deliberate scratches, missing reels, and audio pops to mimic the worn prints that played in 1970s grindhouse venues.

Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) drives a car reinforced with a steel roll cage — death proof for the driver, deadly for anyone in the passenger seat. The first group of women he targets never sees it coming. The second group — real-life stuntwoman Zoë Bell playing herself, alongside Rosario Dawson and Tracie Thoms — does not make the same mistake. Rose McGowan and Mary Elizabeth Winstead round out the cast across the two halves.
