Synopsis
Hearts in Atlantis (2001) is a quiet drama you can watch online on iFILM. In early-1960s Connecticut, eleven-year-old Bobby Garfield lives with a self-absorbed, money-anxious mother until a strange older man rents the room upstairs and changes the shape of his summer.
Anthony Hopkins plays Ted Brautigan, a gentle reader who senses things he shouldn't and pays Bobby to watch for the "low men" trailing him. Their bond grows into something closer than family. Anton Yelchin, in one of his earliest roles, carries the film on a child's wide-open gaze, and the season stretches out the way only childhood summers do.
It comes from a Stephen King story tied to his Dark Tower cycle, directed by Scott Hicks of Shine, with cinematography by Piotr Sobocinski. Not a horror film at all, but a melancholy look at the moment childhood ends and a first betrayal lodges for good. Stream Hearts in Atlantis (2001) online on iFILM.
