Synopsis
White Noise (2022) is Noah Baumbach's screen take on Don DeLillo's novel, and you can watch it online on iFILM. A tragicomedy about a professor who lectures on Hitler yet is quietly terrified of one thing — his own death.
Jack Gladney (Adam Driver) teaches at a small college, juggles a house full of kids from assorted marriages with his wife Babette (Greta Gerwig), and trades pop-culture theories with a colleague played by Don Cheadle. Then a tanker derails nearby, a toxic cloud rolls over the town, and the family's cozy irony cracks against a real threat. Behind it all sits Babette's secret: the pills she keeps hiding.
Baumbach takes a book long called unfilmable and turns it into an odd blend of consumer satire, disaster movie and domestic drama. The tone lurches on purpose, and that whiplash is the point. This one's for viewers up for cerebral chaos rather than a tidy plot. Stream White Noise (2022) online on iFILM.
