Kate Holbrook (Fey) is a single executive at an organic grocery chain who finally wants a baby at 37 — only to learn her odds of conceiving are slim. So she hires a surrogate. The candidate is a handful: Angie (Poehler), a gum-snapping, junk-food-loving woman from a blue-collar suburb who moves in and turns Kate's color-coded life upside down. What follows is two opposite lifestyles grinding against each other, kale versus soda, spreadsheets versus the remote.

The whole thing runs on the Fey-Poehler chemistry — they're funny less for the jokes on the page than for how they bounce off each other.
