Only the Lonely

Only the Lonely (1991) is an American romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Chris Columbus a year before Home Alone 2, the film stars John Candy as Danny Muldoon — a thirty-eight-year-old Chicago cop who still lives with his mother and seems perfectly fine with it, until he isn't.

Danny meets Theresa Luna (Ally Sheedy), soft-spoken and kind, whose family runs a funeral parlor in the neighborhood. He falls for her immediately. She falls for him. The problem is Rose — Danny's mother, played by Maureen O'Hara in a late-career return that's sharp and funny and just this side of terrifying. Rose has opinions about Theresa. She has opinions about everything.
