Synopsis

Crossing Delancey (1988) is a New York romantic comedy directed by Joan Micklin Silver, available to watch online on iFILM. Isabelle runs literary events in Manhattan, keeps company with authors and editors, and considers her solitary West Side life quite full. Her grandmother on the Lower East Side respectfully disagrees.

Amy Irving plays a thirty-something woman pulled in two directions: Anton (Jeroen Krabbé), a charming married European novelist who fills the room, and Sam (Peter Riegert), a soft-spoken pickle seller from the neighborhood market who just keeps showing up. The film doesn't pretend the choice is hard to see from outside, but it's honest about why Isabelle hesitates. Warm, unhurried, and sharper about urban loneliness than its cheerful surface suggests.
