Synopsis
Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home (1995) is Dwight H. Little's family drama, available to watch online on iFILM. A few years after young Jesse set the orca Willy loose in the open sea, the teenager heads to the coast with his foster family and runs into his old friend all over again.
The reunion doesn't stay happy for long. A tanker runs aground nearby, an oil spill spreads across the water, and suddenly Willy and his whole pod are trapped in the slick. Jesse (Jason James Richter), along with the Haida elder Randolph and a new friend named Nadine, races to get the orcas clear while the adults argue over whether anything can be done at all. At the same time a younger half-brother, Elvis, lands in Jesse's life, forcing the boy to share both his family and his whale.
The sequel swaps the captivity story of the original for an ecological scare and pitches everything gently at younger viewers. Michael Madsen returns as Jesse's foster father, and Basil Poledouris's theme is as recognizable as ever.
