Every old letter and half-forgotten acquaintance fills in another corner of who her mother really was. Along the way comes a first crush — Nick, a local kid who offers to help with the search.

This sequel to the hit My Girl brings back Anna Chlumsky in the lead, with Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis returning as Vada's father and stepmother. It is warm without being maudlin, old-fashioned and honest about growing up and grief. A solid pick for a family night, especially if you came of age on nineties films.
