Synopsis
Moral Orel (2005) is a pitch-black claymation comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Created by Dino Stamatopoulos for Adult Swim, it follows eleven-year-old Orel Puppington, a boy in the town of Moralton who loves church more than anything.
Orel tries his hardest to be good and takes every lesson from his parents and the pulpit completely literally. The trouble is, he reads those lessons like a child — so his earnest devotion keeps detonating into disaster. One week it's self-harm in the name of righteousness, the next it's a brush with addiction or some "godly" scheme that horrifies every adult around him. Whatever goes wrong, he stays cheerful and faithful.
What starts as savage satire of small-town piety curdles, by its third season, into a startlingly sad drama about an unhappy family and a damaged childhood. It's stop-motion animation, harsh and firmly not for kids. A great fit for fans of dark humor and anyone who likes cartoons with a grown-up nerve. Stream Moral Orel online on iFILM.
