Synopsis

The season steps away from Orel as its center and dissects the grown-ups of Moralton instead. Bloberta hunts for a way out of her hollow life and questions why she ever married Clay. Clay broods over the rifle his family hands down through the generations. One episode belongs entirely to the town's women and their joyless lives; another follows a single Sunday through the eyes of barely-there minor characters. There are very few jokes here — what's left is an honest, uncomfortable portrait of how piety breaks real people.
