Hellboy: The Crooked Man

Hellboy: The Crooked Man (2024) is Brian Taylor's grim horror-action film you can watch online on iFILM. The story drops into rural 1950s Appalachia, where Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent get stranded in a backwoods hollow ruled by something older than any church.

The locals live in terror of the Crooked Man, a devil who buys human souls through bloody bargains and collects on them in the cruelest way. Jack Kesy takes the lead, stripped of the heavy makeup of earlier versions — rougher, more grounded. Jefferson White plays the frightened but stubborn partner. There's no superhero gloss here, just fog, forest and backwoods folk horror.

The film adapts the Mike Mignola and Richard Corben comic of the same name, one of the scariest tales in the whole Hellboy library. This isn't a blockbuster but a lean, low-budget genre piece, deliberately mean and small-scale. It's for anyone who wanted real dread from the franchise instead of spectacle.
