To the Wonder

To the Wonder (2013) is Terrence Malick's hushed romantic drama, free to watch online on iFILM. There's barely any spoken dialogue. Whispered voiceover, drifting handheld camera, and bodies moving through fields carry a love story as it slowly burns out.

Neil (Ben Affleck) brings Marina (Olga Kurylenko) home from France to the flat, windswept plains of Oklahoma. At first it feels like grace itself: light, open grass, her spinning through it. Then come the bills, the silent dinners, and Jane (Rachel McAdams), an old flame who pulls Neil back. In a parallel thread, a parish priest, Father Quintana (Javier Bardem), wanders his Oklahoma town having lost his sense of God entirely.

This is late-period Malick distilled. Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki shoots sunsets and kitchen corners as if they were cathedrals, and plot dissolves into pure feeling.
