Synopsis
Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995) is Mel Brooks' horror-comedy spoof, and you can watch it online on iFILM. The whole joke rides on Leslie Nielsen playing the vampire count with a completely straight face.
Dracula leaves his cobwebbed Transylvanian castle for Victorian England, hunting fresh blood and easy prey. Nothing cooperates. His shadow has a mind of its own, the coffins leak, and every bite turns into a pratfall. Professor Van Helsing, played by Brooks himself, picks up the trail, and the chase becomes a string of bumbling disasters on both sides.
Brooks takes Bram Stoker's novel and the Coppola film and tips them into pure slapstick, full of sight gags, fake gore and groan-worthy puns. This is late-period Brooks, no match for Young Frankenstein, but Nielsen committing fully to a dignified idiot of a vampire keeps it afloat. Stream Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995) online on iFILM.
