Synopsis
Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) is Mel Brooks's gleeful parody of the Sherwood legend — watch it online on iFILM. King Richard is rotting in a Crusades prison. Prince John has grabbed the throne. The Sheriff of Rottingham is running the tax shakedown. Enter Robin Hood of Loxley, freshly escaped from a Jerusalem dungeon and armed with perfect teeth and the actual key to his family's castle.
Cary Elwes plays Robin straight-faced while everything around him goes sideways. His band includes Blinkin, the archer who hasn't been able to see since birth and denies every missed shot, and Ahchoo — Dave Chappelle in an early role — who sneezes through the worst possible moments. Richard Lewis brings his stand-up neurosis to Prince John; Roger Rees chews every scene as the Sheriff; Tracy Ullman and Dom DeLuise drop in for maximum chaos; Patrick Stewart turns up as the most regal King Richard imaginable. Brooks himself plays a rabbi.
The film is a point-by-point dismantling of the Kevin Costner blockbuster from two years prior, and it lands every joke it aims for. Stream Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) online on iFILM.
