Trash

Trash (2014) is Stephen Daldry's crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. Three boys scavenging a Rio garbage dump pull a leather wallet out of the rubbish, and that one find drags them into something far bigger than they bargained for.

Raphael, Gardo and Rato survive by sorting through mountains of waste. The wallet they fish out holds a code, some cash and a name the police badly want buried. Soon corrupt cops are hunting the kids through the favelas, and the boys refuse to hand it over. Instead they follow the trail left by a dead man, unraveling a thread of bribery that runs all the way to the top.

Daldry shot the film on location in real Rio favelas, casting untrained street kids in the leads alongside Rooney Mara, Martin Sheen and Wagner Moura. The script comes from Richard Curtis, adapting Andy Mulligan's novel. It's tough material handled with real warmth, a story about the dignity of people the city wrote off.
