Synopsis

Colors (1988) is Dennis Hopper's gang-war crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. Two LAPD officers patrol the barrios of South Central, where the color of a bandana marks who lives and who doesn't.

Veteran cop Bob Hodges, played by Robert Duvall, has worked these streets for years and would rather talk a kid down than book him. His hot-headed rookie partner Danny McGavin (Sean Penn) prefers cuffs and fists. Their clash of styles plays out against a real turf war between Crips and Bloods, and Danny's affair with a young woman tied to a local crew only drags him deeper into the mess.

Hopper shot the film at the height of the late-'80s gang epidemic, and it still gets cited as one of the more honest looks at L.A. street life. The Ice-T title track helped push gangsta rap into the mainstream. Worth a watch if you want gritty police realism over polished action. Stream Colors (1988) online on iFILM.
