About

Synopsis

La Haine (1995) is a French drama directed by Mathieu Kassovitz — watch it online on iFILM. Shot in stark black-and-white over three weeks in the real Paris suburbs of Mureaux and Sarcelles, it follows three young men through a single day after riots tear their neighborhood apart.

Vinz (Vincent Cassel) has picked up a police revolver lost during the unrest. Hubert (Hubert Koundé) boxes and wants out. Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui) keeps them moving with dark humor. When they drift into central Paris, they are visibly out of place — the city does not want them back. The gun in Vinz's pocket is the one fact that matters.

Kassovitz won Best Director at Cannes 1995 for a film that arrived as a warning and has never stopped being relevant. The tagline — "so far, so good" — landed in the French vocabulary. Watch La Haine online on iFILM.
