Synopsis

Sleeping with the Enemy (1991) is the Julia Roberts thriller you can watch online on iFILM. From the outside, Laura and Martin have it all: a sleek beach house, a picture-perfect marriage. Behind the door, there's fear, bruises, and a husband who needs to control everything.

So Laura runs. She fakes her own drowning during a storm at sea, walks away from her old life, and resurfaces in a sleepy Iowa town under a new name. For a while she can breathe — a different haircut, a small rented house, a kind neighbor named Ben who teaches drama. Then Martin (Patrick Bergin) finds a clue, realizes she's alive, and starts tracking her with cold, patient precision.

Director Joseph Ruben builds dread out of household trivia: cans lined up by label, towels hung in exact rows. Those tiny rituals announce Martin before you ever see his face. The movie became one of Roberts' biggest box-office hits of the early nineties and still holds up as a tight study of escaping an abuser. Stream Sleeping with the Enemy (1991) online on iFILM.
